Let T1 and T2 be two commuting n × n tripotent matrices and c1, c2 two nonzero complex numbers. The problem of when a linear combination of the form T = c1T1 + c2T2 is nonsingular is considered. In this paper, we investigate the reduced form of circulant matrices and we show that the problem of computing the q-th roots of a nonsingular circulant matrix A can be reduced to that of computing the q-th roots of two half size matrices B - C and B + C.
